Curated by Pam Kitto, Clare Moulton, Elizabeth Sandison, Penny Grennan & Poyan Yee

In the workshop (6 March 2009), local artist Penny Grennan presented her series of paintings, Looking Down to the members of staff at Radiology Department.
The work is concerned with nature, sometimes viewed in an unusual way. As a painter Grennan responds to what she sees and in her case all that she sees is governed by a sight defect that she has had from birth. She has no depth of field and no three dimensional vision. As a result She has difficulty judging distance or speed or changes in surface. She is known for falling down and she doesn’t drink! As a consequence of this she spends a lot of time looking at the ground; hence her view of the world is often of things below her.
She sometimes also paints feet, as they are part of the view.
More of her work can be seen in the Expedition, a group show on the top floor of the new corridor linking the new and older parts of the hospital.
