The horizon is the range of vision that includes everything that can be seen from a particular vantage point. Applying this to the thinking mind, we speak of narrowness of horizon, of the possible expansion of horizon, of the opening up of new horizons etc. ~ Hans-Georg Gadamer

Inspired by the Chinese yin-yang philosophy, I tried to use photography to capture the energy flow within oneself and between humans and the environment with an attempt to understand the healing potential within our bodies. The making of this project has been shaped by the dialogue I had with the Diabetes Team of Hexham General Hospital. The title also has a reference with the concept of “horizon” by the German philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer, who uses this term to describe the standpoints of people in a conversation, and the “fusion of horizons” on people reaching an understanding in the conversation. Horizons symbolises the “fusion of horizons” resulting from the dialogue in the series of workshops between the healthcare professionals and myself.
