“These sketches were made while observing the Hexham Primary Care Medical Practices moving into their new home. They are just “snapshots” to tell the story of the move, and as such hardly convey the immense effort and time involved by all the practice staff in the organisation and activity of such an upheaval.”
Interested in recording the fun of social occasions in the local community of Tynedale, Cathy Duncan carries out quick sketches at the events (ranging from weddings, dances and concerts featuring local and international musicians). These act as a basis for the larger paintings such as the Tea Dancers and All That Jazz for the hospital in which she tries to capture the atmosphere of the occasion.
Cathy is a Qualified Landscape Architect. She studied at Sunderland University for a BA in Art and Design, qualifying in 2001. She was Artist in Residence for Hexham Abbey Festival in 2002 and 2003.
